About us
Winterbourne Publishing is a boutique Australian e-publisher of speculative fiction (that’s science fiction and fantasy) by new or unknown Australian authors. We are based in Perth, Western Australia.
Our goals are to offer an open door to new and emerging Australian SF/F writers, provide high-quality stories outside the mundane mainstream, and increase the appeal of ebooks through wide distribution, ease of access (no DRM), and reasonable prices.
Read our FAQs if you would like to know more, or browse our books or our author profiles.

Winterbourne Publishing and the environment
We are committed to environmentally responsible practices. Our website is hosted with Digital Pacific, which provides carbon-neutral hosting services. We encourage ebook instead of print book format*, but for our Australian customers, our printed books are printed locally in Australia and we use locally made paper from sustainably managed forests. By 2011, our electricity will be solar-generated and our company car will be a low-emissions model.
* whether ebooks are truly better for the environment than printed books is a little more complicated than trees vs no trees. A responsibly-produced book that is locally printed on 100% recycled paper will have a smaller carbon footprint than an ebook that is read on a power-hungry laptop or on an ebook reading device that took myriad resources to manufacture. On the other hand, an ebook that is read on a multi-function device that is recharged using green-generated energy and is properly recycled at the end of its lifetime can end up being less resource-intensive than a book that is printed on virgin fibres and mailed halfway around the world.
